Gameboy Pocket with a colour screen. Imagine the best form factor Gameboy with a bright colour screen. This uses components from an original Gameboy Color to create a Gameboy Pocket Color. The original components such as CPU, SRAM, Oscillator and. Bunch of other parts are soldered to a Mousebitelabs Pocket Colour motherboard. The sensors for brightness are connected to a button on the side for convenience and these screens also have an OSD menu to tweak screen settings. Please see pics at the end showing some of the build. If you’re into modded consoles you’ll likely know about this already but it should give an idea of the build if not. Makes for a nice gift for someone who loves retro gaming and had Gameboy handhelds when they first came out. I would suggest investing in rechargeable batteries as this is set for using AAA batteries and IPS screens draw a fair bit of power. Ladda rechargeable batteries from IKEA seem to be well rated. You’ll find the sound is greatly improved over the original Gameboy as this has a better sound setup. If this items sells and you were interested no worries I can build this again but to your preference. There’s not a great deal of Pocket Colors around so makes for a good conversation piece. I have other Gameboys available please see my other listings or message me if you want something specific building to your liking. I’ve been into tech since the 80’s and my previous job involved a considerable amount of soldering and fixing electronics. Modding up these consoles is also a hobby for me, I enjoy this sort of work and I treat every build as if I’m building it for myself. That said if you need Game Boy game batteries changing or charging ports replacing please message.
